Trent

Trent had been at it again, with more obstacle courses, hand-to-hand, and shooting, and was in the midst of round two against all three while Merax watched, when a shadow crossed over, causing them to look up, distracted from the moment. Circling back to land nearby was a black ship that had wide, hooked wings, very much resembling a dragon. Even the front was sort of hooked in a way that resembled the mouth of a dragon, with two windows that almost looked like eyes. On the side was a blue symbol with a black dragon.

“Expected?” Trent asked.

Merax shook his head, watching as the ship landed and the ramp lowered.

Out stepped a man who towered over Merax. His robes flowed down on each side of his exposed, glossy chest and highlighting his taut muscles. A separate robe covered his bottom half. His skin was completely smooth, Trent realized as the sun glinted off the rosy scales in the center which spread out to cover his chest in a way that almost looked like a flying dragon.

“Yoldrok,” Merax growled.

The large man continued his descent. Two others exited after him but stayed at the top, at the ready with spear-blasters in their hands. As Yoldrok came closer, Trent noted that the man had piercing blue eyes like Ohklon.

Yoldrok came to a stop two paces away from Merax and Trent, eyes flickering to the side as Feras appeared, her hand going to her mouth at the sight of him.

Trent took a defensive stance, ready for whatever this bastard tried to throw at him.

“No,” Feras said, stepping over, hand on Trent’s shoulder first, before lowering it to her side. “This isn’t like that.”

“Not like that?” Yoldrok said, voice heavy and strained. He grunted, nodding at Trent. “It’s true, then? This man is an outsider, one who helped you facilitate Ohklon’s escape?”

“He didn’t help anything, because there was nothing to help,” Merax countered.

Turning to Trent, the new arrival stepped closer, eyes narrowing. “You’re aware he escaped, surely. We have your heat signatures present at the time, and—”

“He escaped, even tried to kill me. This man, Trent, stopped that from happening.” Merax’s eyes flickered over to Trent. “But… Ohklon escaped because he had access to Trent’s blood, and that was my mistake.”

“Which is exactly why we can’t allow this human to go unchecked.”

“What do you propose?” Merax said.

“He will be taken in for questioning.” Yoldrok stepped forward, hands out. A shiny blue light welled from them, then moved out between his palms forming two circles and then followed his right hand as his left reached for Trent’s closest arm.

“You can’t,” Feras said.

Trent glanced around, noting the fear and worry in Ezail’s eyes. Nobody moved to intercept the man, but they all seemed to be poised on the balls of their feet, ready to move in. As the newcomer’s hand took his arm with a vice-like grip, Trent tried to pull away but the man’s hold was too strong. Merax moved in, pulling up his weapon, but Feras stepped into his path.
